Students help collect scale samples in

order to determine the age of the fish.

Students recieved a quick lesson about the different types of organisms collected from the pond.

Students learning about how the algae holds insects and insect eggs, which acts as food for other organisms.

Students found out that the age of a fish can be determined by looking at a fish's scale markings.  Fish acquire distinguishable markings (similar to rings in a tree) for every year of tehir life.
