Scholarships June 2008 The Counseling Center continually receives information concerning scholarships. We will publish these as they arrive. However, your BEST source of scholarship information is on the Internet. Please, if you are interested in applying for scholarships, check out these web sites: www.finaid.org – www.fastweb.com – www.salliemae.com –http://www.washington.edu/students/ugrad/scholar – (the UW site has scholarships that can be used at ANY school, not just UW)--www.maxwell.org targets students who plan to attend private colleges. Any college or vocational school you are thinking of attending has a financial/scholarship office where you can learn about additional scholarships. Most of these schools also have web sites that offer not only information but also downloadable applications. Do your research. Don’t let this available money go to waste. But remember, the application process can be lengthy and require a lot of personal data. Be prepared. Check the scholarship file in the Counseling Center often. New information arrives daily. For more information please visit www.planning.org/institutions/hsessay.htm Air Academy Scholarships: If you have a desire to enter the field of aviation, they have several scholarships available. Check online at www.airacademy.com. Air Force ROTC: You will find information on scholarships offered by the Air Force in the Counseling Center folders or online at www.afrotc.com. Alpha Delta Phi Pacific Northwest Society: Offers several scholarships for male students planning to attend University of Washington. Go to www.alphadelt.org we encourage a timely response as space is diminishing rapidly. Americraft Cookware would like to invite you to participate in their Partnership in Patriotism Scholarship Program .You must submit an essay and you could potentially be awarded up to $5000. For more information check the scholarship files in the Counseling Center. American Legion: Offers several different types of scholarships, go to their web site www.Americanism-ALWA.org Army Emergency Relief MG James Ursano Scholarship Fund: Offers financial assistance to dependent children of Army soldiers. Print out application online www.aerhq.org . Army ROTC: Go to www.goarmy.com/rotc for more information.

Better Business Bureau Students of Integrity Scholarship: Offering 3 $1000 scholarships for junior and senior high students in Western Washington. Requirements are a minimum 2.5 GPA, one letter of recommendation and a 1000 word essay. For more information and to apply go to www.thebbb.org/scholarship.htm Cappex.com: Where colleges apply to you. For more information log on to www.Cappex.com/scholarships Clover Park Technical College Foundation: Offer up to $2500 in scholarships. Applicants need to include a personal essay. Delta Upsilon Scholarship: Washington State Chapter Men’s Undergraduate Scholarship is offering four $2000 scholarships to outstanding gentlemen who will be entering WSU for 2008-09. DeVry University: Offers several different scholarships, for more information go online at www.scholarships@devry.edu Do It Scholars: A program to prepare high school students with disabilities for college, careers and leadership. Check in the counseling center for more info. Educational Communications, Inc.: ECI Scholarship Foundation was created to further support students with financial assistance. For more information and an application go to: www.whoswho-highschool.com or www.ecisf.org Future Cougars of Color: Come together this April with a diverse group of students for a personalized 2-day introduction to what WSU has to offer. Guardian Life Insurance: Announces the 2008 Girls Going Places Entrepreneurship Award Program for teen girls – an opportunity to win $1,000 to $10,000. Marine Corps NROTC Scholarship: You will find information on scholarships offered by the Marine Corps in the Counseling Center folders.
Navy NROTC Scholarships: You will find information on scholarships offered by the Navy in the Counseling Center folders, or online at www.nrotc.navy.mil . Nordstrom Scholarship: If you are a junior with a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.7 to 4.0 you could be eligible to receive a $2500 scholarship each year for 4 years. Come to the Counseling Center for an application. Deadline: May 31st. R. Merle Palmer Minority Scholarship Foundation The message is ready to be sent with the following file or link attachments: SAE Engineering Scholarship Program: These scholarships are sponsored by participating colleges and range from $400 to full tuition. Must enroll in an engineering or related science program and meet the minimum requirements for GPA and SAT scores. More info in the Counseling Center. Seattle Mariners Women’s Club (Bev and West Stock Scholarship): Open to any graduating senior who plans to pursue an athletic-related career. Scholarship is based on GPA and is for one year (non-renewable). The amount is $1,000 and the application due date is June 1st Tacoma Community College: Offers various scholarships and grants. Come to the counseling center and browse through their booklet. Tacoma Police Union Local #6 (Larry Frost Memorial Golf Scholarship): This scholarship is awarded to an above-average student who desires to further his education, has no police record, and athletic prowess in golf. Application deadline is May 31. Theta Corporation: is offering book scholarships for men planning to attend the University of Washington. Up to $500. Washington State Scholarship Foundation: Is offering scholarships primarily based on need. $2000 for 4-year college or university or $1000 for community college, vocational-technical or other accredited post-secondary school.
