Students Perform in
Joseph
and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

A group of about 40 students
presented at February's school board meeting. They all performed
at the Auburn Dinner Theatre on various dates in Joseph
and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. There were 46 performances
in all. The production ended before Christmas.
Our children received high praise from the adult performers as well
as the theatre owners as "...the best student group we have
ever worked with."
Many thanks to music teacher Jan Lewis who worked closely with the
director at the Auburn Dinner Theatre to facilitate this project.
Mrs. Lewis put in many weekends at the theatre.
Thank you as well to the many parents who helped back stage and
provided transportation and snacks for our young actors.
These students had the opportunity to develop their performance
skills, experience live theatre, and be engaged in new learning.
Elaine Smith prepared a slide show of the performers during the
show at the theatre, This slide show was displayed behind the students
as they performed for the school board.
Most of the students who performed were part of the Hedden Choir,
primarily 3rd through 5th grade students. However, there were a
couple second graders and a few middle school students who were
in the Hedden Choir in previous years.
Students rotated through
the performances in groups of twelve.
 The
practices were primarily held at Hedden, after school, with "Joseph"
joining them on several occasions for the rehearsals.
It was a great collaboration and an opportunity for the children
to have some very authentic learning experiences in the theatre
community.
Great job, performers!
