Mrs. Baxter has received Artsonia's Annual Leadership Award for her student art work for 2007-2008. This recognition is given to only 10 teachers across the state.  Her students have over 550 pieces published on Artsonia’s National website which publishes over 3 million pieces of student artwork nationwide.  Surprise Lake Middle School is ranked 8th in the state of Washington based upon the number of pieces published in the gallery, community involvement statistics, fan club activity and fundraising statistics.

In addition to her teaching duties, Mrs. Baxter recently entered two of her personal pieces to the Federal Way Arts Commission sponsored juried art show, called Arts Alive.  Her work (shown below) will hang in the Federal Way City Hall from September 25 to January 6th.  The Arts Harvest reception for that Arts Alive juried art show will be held at the Federal Way City Hall on Tuesday, October 7th at 6 p.m.
