 Groups are Available at the SLMS Counseling Center

 

Counselor led groups are available based on sufficient interest.  Please contact Mrs. Cook, Counselor, tcook@fife.k12.wa.us or Amy McGee, Counseling Intern amcgee@fife.k12.wa.us, if you are interested in having your child attend one of the following groups:

 

SADD:  An after school club with a prevention focus.  The club goal is to promote peer to peer education around making healthy life choices and preventing the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. (Meeting on Tuesdays after school).

 

Grief and Loss:  This group is for students dealing with the loss of a loved one or close friend.  Students will participate in activities to increase their ability to cope with their loss.  Co-facilitated by SLMS Counseling staff and a grief specialist from the community agency GriefWorks of Auburn. (Meets during the school day).

 

Divorce/Separation/Family Transition Group:  Facilitated by SLMS Counseling staff:  A group for students to increase coping skills around family changes.  (Meets during the school day).

 

Girls Issues:  Facilitated by SLMS Counseling staff:  topics may include stress management, peer relationship, conflict management, body image, academic goal setting, and career exploration.  (Meets during the school day).

 

Boys Issues:  Facilitated by SLMS Counseling staff:  topics may include violence prevention, peer association, conflict resolution, anger management, academic goal setting and career exploration. (Meets during the school day).

 

Social Skills:  Facilitated by SLMS Counseling staff:  topics may include friendship and communication skills, making good choices and conflict mediation skills.  (Meets during the school day).
