Accelerated Reader
Updated 9-30-08
The number one indicator of high school success is the amount of "free reading" a student does!
We want all 7th grade students to read at home for 100 minutes each week, for a total of 400 minutes a month. Each night a student will enter the number of minutes read on his/her reading log calendar. For example in the minute box they will record 35, if in fact they read for "35" minutes, or "0" if they did not read at all that night. In either case the parent is to initial each night, even if the student did not read. Our hope is that students will read on a consistent basis; say 20 - 30 minutes a night five to six nights a week, instead of 100 minutes for one night.

Reading log for September.
All 7th grade students need 40 AR (Accelerated Reader) points each semester. This means they need 40 AR points by January 16th and an additional 40 points by June 5th.
