Tuesday, color wheel. Students will learn primary and secondary colors by painting a color wheel. (see rubric below)
Wednesday, monochromatic painting. Students will learn value in painting by choosing a color and tinting and shading that color. (see rubric below)
Week of October 6-- Scroll down to see this week's work in progress Monday we finished Helping Hands Tuesday--Negative Space (see rubric below) Purpose: A company that sells office and art supplies is looking for the perfect design to highlight generic products among colorful designs for their product brochures and advertising campaign. Students fill space with various line types, line qualities, shapes, and colors so the objects stand out because of their lack of color or details. Essential Learning: The student understands and applies arts knowledge and skills by developing the skill of using a variety of line types, line qualities, and color. The students applies a responding process to an arts presentation by engaging actively and purposefully, describing what is seen and/or heard, analyzing how the elements are arranged and organized, interpreting based on descriptive properties, and evaluating using supportive evidence and criteria. The student demonstrates the knowledge of art careers and the knowledge of art skills in the world of work.
Week of September 29-- Scroll down to see this week's work in progress Tuesday--Helping Hands Drawing and Shading
Purpose: For the school bulletin board, we want to build a helping hands bulletin board to celebrate Red Ribbon Week and Saber Pride. You will learn how to use two of the elements, line and form. To create form, you will apply value through shading from dark to light and light to dark.
Essential Learning: The student understands and applies arts knowledge and skills by developing the skill of drawing and shading. The students applies a responding process to an arts presentation by engaging actively and purposefully, describing what is seen and/or heard, analyzing how the elements are arranged and organized, interpreting based on descriptive properties, and evaluating using supportive evidence and criteria. The student communicates through the arts by using the arts to express and present the idea of “helping hands” and to communicate for a specific purpose. We viewed the following Powerpoint
Here is how the work will be evaluated:
Monday--We learned the definitions of line, shape, and form. We shaded shapes to look 3 dimensional. Use this link for how to shade for form:

Week of September 22-- Scroll down to see this week's work in progress Due Wednesday, September 24--Ancestorial Creation Story. We are doing an art project based on ancestral traditions. Each culture has its own creation story, trying to explain how the world began. Then we draw a picture showing that story in pictures. The hope is to have students learn more about their cultures, celebrate differences, and honor/reveal legends. Due Monday, September 29, Fashion Design To explore functional art in the art industry of fashiong design, students will design clothing for a female and male. See the grading criteria below:
